Description & Objectives

The Mx-S — Mexican School of Conscious Politics is the first national chapter of the School of Conscious Politics and a living platform for Conscious Politics, Sacred Activism, democratic innovation and social healing.

Co-founded by Pepe García and Rodrigo Martínez, and publicly presented in February 2022, the Mx-S emerged from a simple but provocative question:

"If there is a London School of Economics, why could not there be a Mexican School of Conscious Politics?"

The question became an invitation to reimagine political education: bringing together professional expertise, public service, democratic practice, ancestral wisdom, human development and social responsibility. Rather than separating personal development from public life, the Mx-S explores how consciousness can become a political capacity and political participation can become a path of service.

As the first national chapter, the Mx-S also serves as a prototype for a wider Network of National Chapters: locally rooted expressions of the School that share a common field of practice while adapting their language, curriculum, partnerships and forms of action to their own cultural and political contexts.

Vision. The Mx-S seeks to contribute to the social and collective healing of Mexico by cultivating citizens and leaders capable of listening across differences, recognizing dignity, transforming conflict and exercising ethical, collaborative leadership. Its educational vision connects consciousness → leadership → democracy → community → service.

The Mx-S understands democratic flourishing as depending not only on institutions, laws and technical capacities, but also on the relational infrastructure that allows societies to function: trust, dialogue, belonging, collective imagination, accountability and the capacity to collaborate across difference.

The wider National Chapters Network extends this vision internationally: one shared field of Conscious Politics, many territories, diverse wisdom traditions and locally meaningful forms of action.

Diagnosis / Context

Mexico carries profound social wounds alongside extraordinary traditions of community, creativity, resilience and ancestral wisdom.

Historical inequalities, violence, corruption, ecological pressures, political polarization and institutional distrust cannot be addressed through technical solutions alone. They also require attention to the human and relational conditions from which collective decisions are made. At the same time, many wisdom traditions have long explored questions of dignity, responsibility, relationship, purpose, community and the common good.

The Mx-S explores the space between these worlds: How can the development of human consciousness become relevant to the way societies organize, govern and care for one another? The answer is not to replace political institutions with spirituality, nor political analysis with personal development. It is to explore what becomes possible when inner capacities, democratic practice and collective responsibility are developed together.

Theory of Change

The Mx-S works through a progressive movement:

Awareness → Capacity → Relationship → Coalition → Action → Social Healing

The premise is that greater awareness can strengthen individual and collective capacities; stronger capacities can improve relationships; healthier relationships make meaningful coalitions possible; coalitions can generate coordinated action; and sustained action can contribute to more trustworthy, participatory and humane forms of public life. This is why the Mx-S treats consciousness not as an abstract ideal, but as a civic and democratic capacity.

Milestones & Evidence

The Mx-S operates at the intersection of political education, public integrity, civic participation, spiritual inquiry and community-building. Its development has been shaped by the complementary journeys of Pepe García and Rodrigo Martínez, bringing together democratic innovation, public-sector experience, international political education, peacebuilding, coaching and spiritual practice.

Areas of exploration and collaboration have included anti-corruption and public integrity; open government and citizen participation; feminism and new masculinities; local economic development; ecology and sustainability; art and social transformation; conscious leadership and political education; and Sacred Activism and social healing.

The pedagogical model is designed to create accessible entry points — from short express learning experiences to multi-month programmes, mentoring and community practice. A strategic area of development is education for children and young people, strengthening moral, ethical, philosophical and practical foundations for integrity, civic responsibility and conscious participation from an early age.

The Mx-S is also developing a digital ecosystem through which people can discover its educational opportunities, community initiatives, projects, networks and resources — extending the chapter beyond individual events and creating a more continuous pathway for learning and participation.

Methodology. HCP curriculum — educational pathways exploring political leadership through multiple dimensions of human development, democratic practice and social responsibility. Sacred Activism — approached as service to the common good: translating values, spiritual practice and ethical awareness into responsible action in the world. Unity Consciousness — explored as a capacity to recognize interdependence, dignity and shared humanity across difference, rather than as a religious doctrine. Coalitions of Consciousness — bringing together people and organizations from different sectors around concrete questions of public life, social healing and democratic transformation. Tekio — drawing from the Mexican context, tekio represents collective contribution and service: bringing one's time, knowledge, relationships, abilities and resources into the service of community. It offers a practical answer to a central question of the Mx-S: What do we do with the privilege, knowledge and opportunities we have received?

2026–2027: From Chapter to Living Platform. The current phase consolidates the Mx-S as a national learning platform and laboratory for Conscious Politics in Mexico. Key priorities include strengthening the HCP curriculum; developing a pathway on Anti-Corruption & Public Integrity; expanding the educational and digital platform; documenting practices of Sacred Activism and conscious political leadership; building partnerships with educational institutions and civic organizations; exploring collaborations around children and youth; connecting democratic innovation with ancestral and wisdom traditions; developing Coalitions of Consciousness around concrete public challenges; exploring a collaborative publication with Indigenous women leaders, grounded in consent, recognition and contextual guidance; defining an appropriate legal and organizational pathway for the Mx-S; and developing the architecture and learning model for future national chapters.

The ambition is not to reproduce the Mexican model elsewhere, but to learn from it. The National Chapters Network is conceived as a framework for transnational learning without cultural homogenization. Each chapter asks: What does Conscious Politics mean here? Which local wisdom traditions and civic experiences can enrich the wider field? What forms of Sacred Activism are meaningful in this context?

Offerings. HCP learning pathways · Anti-Corruption & Public Integrity — learning experiences exploring integrity not only as institutional compliance, but as a personal, relational and civic practice · Conscious Politics for Children & Youth — educational approaches supporting ethical awareness, civic responsibility, dialogue, creativity and service from an early age · Mentoring & Accompaniment — spaces for leaders and changemakers to integrate political responsibility, personal development and collective action · Coalitions of Consciousness — cross-sector spaces where citizens, organizations and institutions can collaborate around shared public challenges · National Chapter Development — a framework for communities and partners interested in developing locally rooted expressions of Conscious Politics within the wider School ecosystem.

Team Profile

6.1 Team Profile — Lead Team

Pepe García — Co-founder. Pepe García is a public-sector and civic innovation professional specializing in anti-corruption, public integrity, open government and citizen participation. Since 2019, he has supported civil society organizations and governments across North America, Central America and the Caribbean in advancing open-government reforms. His previous work in Mexico has included transparency, access to information, open data, civic technology, accountability and citizen participation, including experience with the Government of Oaxaca and Mexico's national transparency institution. Pepe brings to the Mx-S a strong bridge between democratic institutions and conscious leadership.

Rodrigo Martínez — Co-founder. Rodrigo Martínez develops Conscious Politics as an educational, research and action framework connecting political leadership, spirituality, ancestral wisdom, peacebuilding, coaching and participatory learning. Through the School of Conscious Politics and Spiritual Politics Lab, he works internationally to explore how spiritual insight and human development can illuminate political life without replacing democratic institutions, political analysis or cultural autonomy.

Together, Pepe and Rodrigo understand the Mx-S as an ongoing experiment in politicizing spiritual practice and spiritualizing political practice.

6.2 Extended Team & Facilitation Ecosystem

The National Chapters Network. The Mx-S is the first expression of a larger international aspiration: a Network of National Chapters of Conscious Politics. Future chapters may emerge in different countries and cultural contexts, each with its own leadership, partnerships, educational priorities and forms of expression. The Network therefore seeks to combine shared identity with local autonomy, global connection with cultural specificity, common principles with diverse wisdom traditions, and international learning with local action. It is not intended to become a single institutional model imposed across territories: it is envisioned as a common field of practice through which different communities can learn from one another while remaining accountable to their own cultural, social and political realities.

Institutional collaboration. The Mx-S works across sectors rather than within a single institutional category. The aim is to create learning ecosystems rather than isolated programmes — connecting knowledge, practice, relationships and action.

Contribution to Conscious Politics

The Mx-S contributes to the School of Conscious Politics as its first territorial chapter, national educational platform and living laboratory: the place where the School's theory is tested against a specific territory's wounds, wisdom and civic reality.

Its distinctive contribution is to hold together what is usually separated: democratic innovation and ancestral wisdom, public integrity and inner development, political analysis and spiritual practice, personal transformation and collective responsibility. By treating consciousness as a civic and democratic capacity — and by offering tekio as a practical answer to the question of privilege — the Mx-S proposes that political education can become a path of service rather than a ladder of position.

As the prototype for the National Chapters Network, the Mx-S also produces the School's model for transnational learning without cultural homogenization: one shared field, many territories, locally meaningful forms of action.

The Mx-S continues to evolve from an idea into a living educational and civic platform — a place where political education can become service, privilege can become responsibility, and consciousness can become collective action.
